Up until recently, I didn't think bands like B Side Jones existed. Bands that are tight, funky, and fun. When I was asked to come in for an audition, I was given a list of songs to learn that I had never heard before. And bands that I had never heard of before. So I find myself at B-Side Studios in Delray Beach with 6 musicians and a drummer, jamming in a way that was more fun than I thought possible. They said "Drew...be creative and think outside of the box...this is supposed to be fun. And so I did...and now i am a brother in funk, and my fellow brothers and sisters have become my extended family.
I've been a lover of music and a saxophonist for a long time...since elementary school in fact. I play soprano, alto and the bands favorite, the baritone. Now that's one big horn, and the trumpet guy, Mark has expressed some horn envy from time to time, but I think he's learned to deal with it.
My day job is that of a Farrier. That's a guy that shoes horses. And when I'm not wrestling 1,800 pound creatures, I spend as much time as I can with my wife Paula and son Miles. and now, I spend time with B-Side Jones.
I have to say this a departure from what I was accustomed to, but it's a departure that is the most fun I've had in a long time.
